CostThe opposite of revenue. An expense that reflects the price of purchasing goods, services and financial instruments. A cash cost means that cash is given up today to the purchase. Cost basis The original price of an asset, used to determine capital gains. Cost benefit ratio The net present value of an investment divided by the investment's initial cost.
