Non-qualified plan A retirement plan that does not meet the IRS requirements for favorable tax treatment. Non-qualifying annuity An annuity that does not fall under an IRS-approved pension plan. Contributions are made with after-tax dollars, but earnings can accumulate tax-deferred until withdrawal. Non-qualifying investment An investment that does not qualify for any level of tax-deferred or tax-exempt status. Investments of this sort are made with after-tax money. Non-qualifying life policy A life assurance policy which does not satisfy the requirements of the Inland Revenue and does not qualify for certain tax relief.
