Pip




Pip

Used for listed equity securities. Smallest unit of a currency (i.e., cents for US dollars).

Equity
1) Ownership interest in a firm. 2) The residual dollar value of a futures trading account, assuming its liquidation is at the going trade price. 3) In real estate, dollar difference between what a property could be sold for and debts claimed against it. 4) In a brokerage account, equity equals the value of the account's securities minus any debit balance in a margin account. 5) Shorthand for stock market investments.

Securities
Saleable papers, traded on stock exchanges, that yield an income (dividend, interest, etc.).

Unit
More than one class of securities traded together (e.g., one common share and three subscription warrants).

Currency
Money. The word currency mainly refers to the name and kind of money issued by each country.

Piggybacking
A broker who is trading stocks, bonds or commodities in a personal account following a trade just made for a customer.

PIK (Payment-in-kind) securities
Highly bonds or preferred stock that pay interest or dividends through additional bonds or preferred stock.

Pin risk
A risk that the writer of an options or futures contract faces when the price of the underlying asset closes at or very near the exercise price of the contract upon expiration.

A committee of the exchange that determines the daily settlement price of futures contracts.

A sales book created by an investment bank-firm that details the main attributes of the firm.

PITI
Stands for principal, interest, taxes, and insurance, the four main parts of monthly mortgage obligations.
