In the equities market, a conditional bid or offer. "My bid or offer is not firm, but is subject to confirmation between other parties and to market changes."

Confirmation
The written statement that follows any "trade" in the securities markets. Confirmation is issued immediately after a trade is executed, spelling out settlement date, terms, commission, etc.
